Top 10 populated countries in the world
Inspired from my previous post 'Top 10 most populated cities'. I've returned to tell you the 10 most populated countries. But before you scroll down, how about I slap you with some random facts (not hard, don't worry)!
The top six countries on this list match up to half of the world's population! All six of these countries put together equal up to 3.6 billion (the other countries altogether also equal 3.6 billion), so there are 7.2 billion people living in this world. Another fact is the country in first place is 18.5% of the world's population! Amazing right? Now it's time for you to see the top 10 countries, please do scroll down and enjoy!
Did you expect Japan to be higher on the list? So did I. Japan is tenth with only having 126 million people currently living in the beautiful cultural country. Some parts of Japan are extremely crowded, with the country hosting the busiest train station in the world in Tokyo. Though, there are also a lot of places in the country that aren't as busy. With Japan having over 6,000 islands, this means there's a bit more space for 126 million people to live and a lot of places for you to visit! Compared to a lot of countries on this list, Japan is pretty spacious for its population size! Before you go to number nine, Japan's population is actually decreasing, this is due to lack of sex of course and because the population gap between men to women is increasing rapidly.
Russia is next on this list coming in ninth place with up to 146 million people living in the country. Though it is a high number, there is more than enough space for all residents to live. Russia is the largest country in the world (by far) and the world's leading country with the amount of weapons kept. Apparently, Russia have so many weapons that they actually have missiles for breakfast...I made that up but if I was the leader of a country, I wouldn't want to mess with Russia!
Coming up eighth on this list is Bangladesh with over 163 million people living there. As well as that, around half of Bangladesh's population are farmers are distribute products across the world! As many people there are living in Bangladesh, there's also more seasons than a lot of other countries. Most countries only have 4 seasons (Autumn, Spring, Summer & Winter), Bangladesh however, have 6! Barsha (rainy), Bashonto (spring), Grismo (summer), Hemanto (cool), Sharat (autumn) & Sheet (winter).
The country of Nigeria is rapidly growing & with the country currently having over 193 million residents, Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa. With the amount of people living in Nigeria, this pretty much means 1 in every 43 people is Nigerian. While Bangladesh makes a lot of its earnings from farmers and factory workers, a lot of Nigeria's income is generated through the high level of oil the country contains. Nigeria's Nollywood is the second largest movie producer in the world, with first place also being on this list, which you'll find out very soon!
Brazil, located in South America, has as many as 208 million people. Though Brazil is sixth on this list, the country is the fifth largest by land area. Five years ago, Brazil had 194 million people...so within the space of five years the country has been able to produce 14 million extra children! That's 2.8 million per year, 7,671 per day, 319 per hour...5 babies per minute!!! As well as their amazing reproduction rate, the residents of Brazil (can I call them Brazillions? sounds real cool to me) experience three different time zones. These times zones include the 'Amazon Time Zone', 'Fernando de Noronha Time Zone' & 'Brasillia Time Zone'.
Making it into the top five on this list, we have Pakistan! Hosting nearly 210 million people (to be specific, 209.3m). With Pakistan's capital (Karachi) having 17 million people living in it, this makes Karachi one of the most populous cities in the world (having more people than London and New York cities put together). 96% percent of Pakistan's population are Muslim and the average life expectancy in the country is 67 years, of course this is with the help of having the largest ambulance service in the world!
At number four, we have Indonesia! With a population of 261 million, it has made it further than Brazil, Nigeria and Japan (notoriously known for being crowded). The name Indonesia was actually formed in Latin with the word 'Indus' meaning 'Indian' and 'Nesos' meaning island. So if you say 'Indus nesos' in your head it does make sense as to why the name has stuck for so long. To be honest, Indonesia is a beautiful name. If I met a woman and I asked her "Excuse me miss, would you mind telling me your name?" and she replies "Sure sexy, my name is Indonesia." I'm marrying her instantly! Well, when I get the money.
Now, this is where it gets intense and interesting! We are now at the top three and in third place, we have the United States of America! Having over 325.9 million people spread across 50 states (yes, it is 50...not 52 or 48). Other than the fact that many parts of the country was built off slavery and people came and took over the native Indians' land, there are some interesting facts don't portray a negative image to the US. The residents of America are mostly focused on 'living for the moment' than most other things. With their amazing views of the Grand Canyon, New York City, Hawaii, plenty of theme parks, a lot of history attached to the country, there is practically nothing you can't do in America and nothing you can't learn about it! Though, it is the largest country in the world that doesn't actually inherit a language of its own.
Runner up we have India, this is where it gets scary! The difference between 2nd and 3rd place is phenomenal. With nearly 1 billion people as a difference. For comparison, the United States has 325 million people, India has nearly 1.323 billion people living there! That's right, the relatively small country lying down the southern parts of Asia we have the second most populous country. The beautiful country of India is filled with culture and is the largest democracy (where people can vote for their leader) in the world! As well as that, India's Bollywood is the number 1 movie producer in the World. As if you thought no other country could possibly have a higher number than that, somehow there actually is! Coming up in first place for the most populous country in the world is........
China! Who would of thought? With a population of over 1.387 billion people, this makes China the most populous country in the world! As usual, China is the most populous country. China has in fact held first place for over 2,000 years!! Below is an image of the population density.
As you can see, towards the east (with the darker colours) it is a lot more dense and crowded, whereas the west looks pretty spacious and would probably be the location I would live around. Around 47% of Chinese residents live in urban areas where it isn't as crowded as the eastern parts.
And there we go, the top 10 most populous countries in the world! Below I have given a few honorable mentions:
11th place: Mexico with 123.3 million
12th place: Philippines with 104.7 million
13th place: Egypt with 95.9 million
14th place: Ethiopia 94.3 million
15th place: Vietnam 93.7 million
Hope you enjoyed reading and be ready for my next post!
